The Hotel Formentor was conceived in 1929 by businessman and visionary Adam Diehl, who saw the landscape of the Formentor Peninsula as the ideal spot for a luxury spa. This area of Mallorca, with its spectacular nature, had a strong connection with local culture, as it belonged to the family of the poet Miquel Costa i Llobera. The poem El Pi de Formentor already promoted the love for the island and its landscape as a great metaphor and symbol of our land.

Our compromise with prestigious hotels is based on integrating wellbeing, sustainability and respect for the territory. The result is an example of how architecture can honor history while designing for the future.  

Since its inauguration the hotel became a popular destination for celebrities and artists, turning into a symbol of high society and mediterranean calm. In 2024, the hotel was refurbished and became part of the Four Seasons chain, while maintaining its rich history and modernizing its services to offer its guests a memorable experience, compromised with quality, comfort and innovation.

Since the beginning of the project innovative sustainability initiatives have been applied. It’s the only hotel in Mallorca where it’s been possible to attain the environmental certification LEED GOLD Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, a demanding award with certifies the use of sustainable materials and practices during the construction of the building, the capacity to adapt to its environment and its water and energy use efficiency. Moreover, the ecological harvesting of the vineyard and olive trees that were already in the surrounding area of the hotel have turned into a 3 hectares ecological vegetable garden which will supply the restaurants of the hotel.

With this refurbishment the Hotel Four Seasons Formentor gains a space that is more open, integrative and which adapts to its current necessities, all while respecting its own history and highlighting its landscape and architecture value, and with the compromise of promoting the people’s wellbeing, respect for the environment and economic sustainability.
